Tom Covert, AIA Associate
Designer and Builder
Tom, a native of Southern Ohio, started in the construction industry as a carpenter at the early age of 19. His assignments focused on building new houses and renovating old homes for a prominent home builder involving himself in all facets of residential construction. It was through this experience that he found his passion for the industry and desire to learn more about not only construction, but the design and art involved in the industry as well. He earned an Associates Degree in Computer Aided Drafting and Design, then moved to Cincinnati to pursue an Architectural Engineering Degree from the University of Cincinnati’s College of Engineering. During his undergraduate studies he found himself drawn to the historic architecture that is so prominent throughout Cincinnati, thus earning a certificate in Historic Preservation from UC’s College of Design, Art, Architecture, & Planning (DAAP). To complete his professionally accredited education, Tom earned his Master of Architecture degree from DAAP.
Tom has worked in NYC for a prominent architectural firm, as well as for a multitude of design firms here in Cincinnati. Tom is a proponent of modern design, but has a sensitivity and appreciation for historic architecture. He prides himself on craftsmanship and ability to execute the details - both contemporary and historic.
